Jowls

Jowls are characterised by slackening or sagging skin below the chin and jawline. They form because of a natural loss of volume and changes that take place in the mid and lower face area due to loss of collagen and elastin as we get older.

Jowls can affect both men and women and tend to appear from the 40’s onwards. Their appearance often depends on each individual’s facial bone structure, with genetics, lifestyle and environmental factors, such as sun exposure, also contributing to this condition. Many people find that jowls make them look miserable or unhappy and therefore seek treatment advice.

If caught early jowls can be very effectively treated. We will make individual treatment recommendations based on the specific cause of your condition.

Dermal fillers may be used to restore volume and Botox may be recommended to relax the neck muscle responsible for pulling the jawline downwards. Radiofrequency, iPixel and other skin tightening treatments may also be used to both tighten the skin on or around the jawline and to encourage collagen production, helping to lift sagging skin.
