Rosacea

Rosacea is an often misdiagnosed condition that mainly affects the face and can present itself in many different ways. It can affect anyone at any stage in life and its exact cause is unknown. There may be a small hereditary factor and there are a number of triggers for its appearance, including exposure to sunlight, severe cold, caffeine and alcohol consumption.

Rosacea can usually show as redness and/or flushing to the forehead, cheeks, nose or chin and can be accompanied by a burning or stinging sensation on the skin. This condition can lay dormant and then flare up suddenly. It may also present itself as small outbreaks of white spots, usually also showing on the forehead, cheeks, nose or chin.

Rosacea is manageable. In some cases results can be seen quickly but often a course of treatment and on-going management may be required for this condition, with treatment recommendations based on your specific condition.
