Sun Damage

Sun damage is caused by the skin being excessively exposed to the sun and its harmful UV rays. The level of exposure at which damage occurs will vary from one person to another, according to the make up of their individual skin.

This condition can affect anyone at any age and may present itself in a variety of different ways, including sunspots, redness, broken veins, discolouration or pigmentation, wrinkles and a loss of elasticity or slackening or sagging of the skin, as well as a general dullness and prematurely-aged appearance to the affected area.

Sun damage is found on those areas of the body that have been overexposed to the sun on an on-going basis and over a long period of time e.g. the face, hands and décolletage and is much more common than it used to be, with current generations spending much more time on holiday and in the sunshine than their predecessors.

Treatment recommendations will be made according to each individual patient’s condition
