Acne scarring are the scars that are often left behind following a period of acne. They usually occur when a spot, nodule or cyst that has burst damages the skin. These scars can sometimes be mistaken for acne itself.
There are 3 main different types of acne scars. ‘Ice pick’ scars are small deep punctures in the skin, ‘box scars’ are oval or round shaped dents or depressions and ‘rolling scars’ give the skin a rolling or uneven appearance. Sometimes acne scaring may also present itself as discolouration on the skin.
Acne scars will rarely self-correct and treatment can only take place once the acne itself has been effectively controlled and managed. We offer a variety of treatment options with recommendations made according to your individual skin condition.
These include dermapen to break down the scars so they can heal in a uniform way, mesotherapy or skin boosters to help inflate indentations in the skin, Harmony IPL to address discolouration/redness and prescription skincare to manage colour and texture changes. These may be recommended as individual or combined treatments to achieve the best results for your skin.
