GETTING UNDER THE SKIN OF PROFHILO
Profhilo. You may have already heard the name, because it’s causing quite a stir in aesthetics and is regarded by many as the beauty treatment of the moment. Praised by celebrities, VIP’s and beauty editors alike, it has been described as an ‘injectable moisturiser’ and as a ‘replacement for Botox’ and is generating rave reviews in the press and media. So how does it work and what’s all the fuss about?
Profhilo is a skin laxity treatment developed to re-model sagging, crepey, wrinkly or ageing skin. Made by multi-national Swiss pharmaceutical company IBSA, it contains high concentrations of hyaluronic acid that are injected into the area being treated. The hyaluronic acid is released gradually to stimulate collagen and elastin production beneath the skin’s surface, increasing skin hydration and firmness and smoothing out lines and wrinkles. Injections are given at 3 treatment sessions, one month apart and Profhilo’s versatility means that it can be used to treat different areas of the body including the face, neck, décolletage and also the arms, hands and knees.
The Glasshouse Clinic was one of the first UK clinics to offer this treatment. We currently treat 10-15 patients a week on average – so we have seen the fantastic results that Profhilo can generate. Patients also fall in love with this treatment as it usually requires no down time, has an outstanding safety record and is suitable for all skin types.
